That's What You Are There For...
One of the most valuable characteristics of a great coach is his or her unconditional belief in the unlimited success of their Client. I feel this sincerely about my Clients.
As I was sitting with one Client yesterday and reinforcing the fact that he has fabulous contacts, fabulous skills and instincts built over twenty years of experience in his field of business, he said to me, “I wish you were with me every day telling me that.”
I responded, “That is what you are there for.”
People who lack confidence often look outside themselves for it. It is never there. Confidence and self esteem always exist within. And it always begins unconditionally.
Experience builds confidence. That is true. Success builds confidence. That is true, too. But confidence begins with an unconditional belief in self.
All of the top producers, really big producers have this type of confidence. They may show other types of insecurity but if you look a bit below the surface you will find that unconditional belief in self. It is not that you have it or you don’t. It is something you can build.
That’s what you are there for.

Rich,
This was great. Last week my neighbors listed their house without even giving me a call. My self-confidence plummeted. Today I will take the time to remind myself that it is their loss. There is no one that can sell my neighborhood better than me.
Thank you for this post. It really hit home with me.
