Vacation was good....

We just returned from a seven day cruise plus two.  So many Agents that I speak with haven’t taken a vacation in years.  Why are we all working so hard?  Why are YOU working so hard?  Isn’t it precisely so you can vacate.

What is the plus two?  One day before the vacation to prepare for the trip without pressure and one full day after to put away, catch up, and prepare for work.

My assistant Rebecca is taking a week with her family to take her son to Disneyworld.  She said she would be available by phone.  I said no she wouldn’t.  Each day you are away, completely away, the level of relaxation and mental health increases.

I have clients who are dealing with spousal unemployment, family illnesses, and personal tragedies.  They cannot vacate those issues.  These kinds of issues come up in our lives.  They are a part of our human experience.  They prevent us from enjoying the fruits of our labors, as they should.

While our lives, while your life is going along well without these inevitable challenges take time to vacate from your business and see what life is like outside of your business.  If you are fortunate enough to be at a time without these challenges take advantage of it.

What if you lose deals because of it.  First of all you most likely won’t.  Secondly, it’s worth it.

Have people cover for you.  Choose competent people that you can trust.  Ask your Broker or Manager to keep their eye on anything particularly difficult.  Then vacate from you phone, from your e-mail, from all of it.

You will gain the healthiest perspective of your business and your life.
